Maths

                             Maths  and Fractions

In problem solving we are leaning about proportions and rations we've worked on problems like: 65% of the cake is flour. What percentage is not flour?

 I thought that it would go up to 100% because of the 65%, then I did  _ + 65 =100 so I thought 60 plus 40 = 100 then, 40 - 5 = 35 so that's my answer

  “The Journey”

It was late at night and we had to get there at 7:30pm. We all had to get changed quite fast so room sixteen could get dressed up. That was because they were before us. We were on last. There were at least two or three  parent helpers each night, one did the makeup and the other did the hair. The hairstyle for the girls was a side ponytail. We also put some hair colour. I had blue on one night, green the next, with yellow hair as well as the green. One night I wasn't there because it was one of my  sibling’s birthday. Then on Friday morning we got to watch all of it and perform. If you watched it I hope you enjoyed it. Our costumes for the girls were coloured skirts. We also had to wear leotards, the boys were dressed up like they were rappers and footballers. We were on stage at least 7:45 each night. We were  called and we went to the wings of the stage. It was cold, dark and very loud. I felt very nervous, there was this really blinding light so I just looked at it instead of the audience so I don’t get stage fright. The country that we were doing was Brazil. At the end the crowd was cheering so loud and clapping loud as well. I loved performing.

Makey Makey

Makey makey!

On the 4th of September

We did makey makey with Mrs Drewett.

Makey makey is about connecting things like scissors to alligator clips, well that was the first level. The next level was about drawing with a pencil you had to push really hard with it then connect the alligator clip to all of the keys and so on.
There were three levels, a piano, a Pac man level and last of all a Super Mario game. Here is some instructions to do it. The first thing you need to do is get is a computer, a piece of paper , and some metal things like scissors.
Then take all the cords out, untangle them, then with the board looking thing (the controller)connect the coloured cords in the up, down, right, left, and space bar but do not put the alligator clip in the click because you will not need it. Get at least six pairs of scissors connect the clip things on to the scissors after you have connected lookup Makey Makey piano.
I do not think I have told you to put the red cord in the computer put the big end in then the small end in the controller. Now see if it works if it does work you will need that paper draw five things anything once you have done that you connect the alligator clips to each thing then look up Pacman on scratch but first do it on the piano then if it works do the Pacman one and that's all from me.

Maths Talk at HoonHay School

At our school, we work with a maths mate and share our thinking with them. We ask questions about our maths and if we aren't sure of something, we explain how we do it. We know that 2 brains are often better than one and we enjoy working collaboratively.
Today ......and I worked on solving this problem

Ben, Ryley and Olie did some gardening chores for their parents and earned themselves $8 each. How much did they earn altogether? here is me and maths mates here is our working out

The Museum

                                      The museum!

Hi on the 13th of June me and my class went to the Museum and Art Gallery to learn about the sun and solar energy.

At the museum, we met  Anthony. He was our educator and guide. First, he took us to the sun exhibit. There was a huge inflated sun but I didn't go in. Also, there was this running thing where you run into a wall (by the way the wall is soft so nobody got hurt).  Back to the wall when you ran into the wall you got to see how many days it would take for you to run to the moon - it would take me 1,525 days.
This is my group rubbing greenstone  - it was so smooth

Here is one of my favourite art pieces
I liked it because it all goes in separate  ways
